ORIENTATION

“The purpose of school is to train young people to educate themselves for life”

R.M. Hutchins

This statement, which is well represented in the critical competencies of citizenship, nevertheless lacks effectiveness when, at the end of their studies, students are faced with the labour market.
For this reason, we have designed an orientation pathway that clarifies to students the dynamics and demands of the labour market.

It is a course designed as an incoming orientation aimed at combating school dropouts. It is intended to incentivise students to tackle their studies with greater conviction and determination precisely because they are motivated by an understanding of the dynamics of the world of work.

The course, developed based on our now consolidated classroom experience with young people, is intended to provide concrete answers to the uncertainty of the labour market, stimulating reflection on the importance of School and non-school engagement and the need to activate resilient skills to changes in the market, technologies, fashions and time. On the other hand, the world of work is changing more and more unpredictably and at an astonishing speed. There is constantly something new to learn, a change to adapt to, and new technologies.

It consists of 4 meetings of 2 hours each, structured as follows:

1. RECOGNISE AND DEVELOP YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Soft skills: from STEM to STEAM, the contamination and revenge of soft skills.
  • Reskilling and Upskilling: the importance of continuous training.
  • Know your strengths and turn weaknesses into opportunities for improvement: where and how to develop your skills.

2. PERSONAL BRANDING: PRESENT YOUR POTENTIAL AND FIND A JOB

  • Mindset: how to approach finding the right job for you
  • How to get a job and get found
  • Getting the job: CV, LinkedIn and interview

3. SMART WORKING OR WORKING SMART: STRATEGIES AND NEW SCENARIOS

  • Mindset & Strategy: how to work on projects
  • Scenarios today and tomorrow: new professions, working methods and contexts
  • The rights and DUTIES of the worker

4. WORLD OF WORK: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

  • Sustainability
  • Digitalisation

The meetings will be held (in presence) by one or more Foundation teachers and can be held during curricular or extracurricular hours or, at the School’s request, also in the fact of parents.

All materials used during the meetings will be available on the EDU4future platform, and credentials will be provided upon course activation.

The cost must be agreed with the Foundation and may range between €300 and €500+VAT depending on the teaching hours required and the number of classes involved.
Activation of the project is subject to the signing of an agreement between the School and the Foundation.
